April Calendar

St. Mary's Women's Group / Thursday, May 2

RibbonThe March meeting of our Women’s Group enjoyed reflections on our Lenten observance and discussion of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. The next meeting will be held on Thursday, May 2, and will focus on Mary, our Mother, and the Bible story of Mary and Martha. Meetings are held from 10:30 a.m. until 12 p.m., in the Community Room at the Robert Noble Manor (241 Gordon Street) in South Amboy. If you have any questions, please call Karen at 732-546-8361.

Clothing Drive / April 27 - May 8

Clothing Drive

Here we go! Our spring clothing drive will run from Saturday, April 27, until Wednesday, May 8. Please remember, our drop-off location is the garage (right side) in the rectory parking lot. The door will be open Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. On Saturday, it will be open from 3 – 5 p.m., and on Sunday, from 7 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. All items must be securely tied in plastic bags. We can accept clothes, linens, stuffed animals, handbags, belts, shoes, household items, toys, books, DVDs and small appliances (NO microwaves or TVs). For questions, please call Angel at 732-501-5133 (Monday through Friday, between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m.) All proceeds benefit Saint Mary Church. Thank you!

A Note from St. Mary's Food Pantry

Food PantryAll are cordially invited to join us in St. Pat’s Hall on Saturdays, April 13 and 27, from 5:30 – 8 p.m., to help those in need by cutting coupons (for food, baby, pet, health/beauty items only, please) for the men and women overseas, decorating occasion cards and crocheting/knitting/looming scarves, baby blankets and lap blankets. Some of whom we serve are the patients/residents of JFK Hospital and the Veterans’ Home in Edison, the Venetian Care Center, the homeless and Pro-Life organizations. For more information, please call Natalie at 732-425-8727.

The Food Pantry appreciates all that you do for those in need. Just a reminder – please do not leave food on the rectory steps or porches. ALL food should be left in the back of the church or in St. Theresa's chapel. Also, please check expiration dates. We cannot distribute expired food and must throw it out. Thank you for your cooperation and assistance.

Teachers Aides Needed

We are in need of teachers for our Religious Education Program to teach our children God's Word and anyone interested in being a Teacher's Aide (adult or any child in 8th grade or above) please contact John Kobiernicki at 732-721-1514.

Altar Servers Needed

Altar ServersAltar Servers are needed for all Masses – we welcome students in grade 3 and up who have made their First Communion to become a server.  Three short training sessions take place before being scheduled and new servers are always paired with veterans while they are learning.  Anyone who is interested should contact the Director of Religious Education, John Kobiernicki, at 732-721-1514 or via email at or see any priest or deacon after Mass.

Greeters Anyone wishing to greet fellow parishioners and visitors as they enter the church, or hand out bulletins as they exit after Mass are encouraged to do so. Responding in a special way to Pope Francis' visit to the United States, we especially encourage families to take part in this activity as a group. There's
no commitment, and you never know how holding the door for someone or a kind "good morning" affects someone. Anyone who would like more information may call Pat Regan at 732-727-2768.
