Bible Study Beginning
Save the Date / October 18th

Our next Bible Study session will begin on Thursday, October 18. We will be studying Matthew, Part 1. We will be meeting on Thursdays, at 2 p.m., in the Religious Education office. For more information and to register, please call Doris at 732-727-6434.

Donations for Verterans Requested / Now until November 10/11 weekend

We are collecting NEW (with tags still attached) items that will be distributed to the veterans at the NJ Veterans Memorial Home at Menlo Park.

Items requested include men’s sweatpants (M and L), slacks with elastic waistband (27-30” length-short), white undershirts (especially V-neck, S to 2XL), short or long-sleeve polo shirts (S-2XL). All types of clothing are needed, sizes mostly needed for men are large and extra-large.

Women need elastic-waist stretch pants (size medium is needed most, in blue, black and brown colors), knee or mid-calf-length house dresses (sizes medium – 2XL) and long sleeve t-shirts (size medium is needed most, solid colors). Sizes mostly needed for women are medium and large.

Also needed are non-binding diabetic socks and windbreakers in all sizes for both men and women. Overall sizes run from medium to 2XL for both men and women.

If you would like to make a monetary donation, please make your check payable to "NJ Veterans Memorial Home at Menlo Park" and indicate "Clothing Room" on the memo line. For any questions about clothing needs, please call Roseann at 732-727-4574. Items can be placed in the large tote in the back of the church from now until the weekend of November 10/11.

Adult Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation

Registration is now being accepted for any adult who is interested in celebrating theRCIA Sacraments of Baptism, First Communion, and/or Confirmation. Please join us as we journey through the scriptures and learn more about our Catholic faith and tradition. You must be at least 14 years of age to attend the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults), 16 if you seek Confirmation only. Anyone younger, please contact the parish religious education office. RCIA sessions, which include Mass attendance, will be held on Sundays from 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Please contact Honora DeMaio at (732) 816-8514 to register, for further information or if any active parishioner would like to join our RCIA team.

Viking Danube River Cruise

River CruiseAll Aboard! In less than a year from now, we will be sailing on our Viking Danube River cruise! We set sail on July 14, 2019, for an 8-day cruise (no hotel hopping) to Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary. If you are thinking about joining us, know that there are only a few cabins available. Blood Drive at Saint Mary Church

Blood DriveThere will be a blood drive on Sunday, October 28, in the school cafeteria, from      8:45 a.m. until 1:15 p.m.  Please bring ID and remember to eat before you donate.  Donors should be at least 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health.  Homemade goodies will be served, walk-ins are welcome!  Please call Sue at 732-220-7077 for more information.

A Note from St. Mary's Food Pantry

Pantry

The Saint Mary Food Pantry is asking for your help with donations for Thanksgiving. Here is a list of food items that are needed: pie crust, pie filling, yams, stuffing, turkeys, gravy, tea and coffee. No cranberry sauce, please. All donations are appreciated! Please place all items in a bag and leave in the back of the church before or after Masses. Thank you!

We are in need of teachers for our Religious Education Program to teach our children God's Word and anyone interested in being a Teacher's Aide (adult or any child in 8th grade or above) please contact John Kobiernicki at 732-721-1514.

Altar Servers Needed

Altar ServersAltar Servers are needed for all Masses – we welcome students in grade 3 and up who have made their First Communion to become a server.  Three short training sessions take place before being scheduled and new servers are always paired with veterans while they are learning.  Anyone who is interested should contact the Director of Religious Education, John Kobiernicki, at 732-721-1514 or via email at jkobiernicki4@gmail.com or see any priest or deacon after Mass.

Greeters

Greeters Anyone wishing to greet fellow parishioners and visitors as they enter the church, or hand out bulletins as they exit after Mass are encouraged to do so. Responding in a special way to Pope Francis' visit to the United States, we especially encourage families to take part in this activity as a group. There's
no commitment, and you never know how holding the door for someone or a kind "good morning" affects someone. Anyone who would like more information may call Pat Regan at 732-727-2768.
